Some reminders about Solo and Ensemble: What to do when you get here: Please come at least 15 minutes prior to your warm-up time. You will get your score sheet from the Registration Table. There is only one score sheet so only one person needs to get it. Make sure you have your judge’s copy. If one person is not there, your event may disqualify for a medal but you will still perform. Warming up: Don’t forget to tune! There will be tuners in the ensemble room. Do not overplay in the ensemble room, just warm up enough to be comfortable. You will not have that long to warm-up in the room so if you need longer, do that at home before you come to school. Performing: Check in with the room monitor. Go in the room and get familiar with the way it is set up. Right before you are supposed to perform, give your rubric and your judge’s copy to the judge. You may do one final tuning and warm-up before you start. Introduce your piece and good luck! Once you’re done performing you may leave Dress: NICE CLOTHES! Boys should wear collared shirts, long pants, and shoes. Girls may wear a dress or skirt/slacks and nice blouse, shoes. It does not need to be too formal, something you’d wear to church or a wedding. No jeans, t-shirts, shorts, or slippers. Instruments: People with large instruments must either bring theirs from home or if they want to use the one here in the band room, must put whatever they want to use in the room by the bathrooms on the Friday BEFORE the event. You will not have access to your instruments in the band room. Results: Medals and scores will be distributed in class within the following week. Who can watch: The performances are open to the public, anyone can come and watch them and it is free. All students are encouraged to attend to support their friends. Parents and family are encouraged to support their student’s performance(s). Clinics and Feedback: The judges will be providing written and verbal feedback to students, either at the event or in a separate clinic. Be prepared to learn something and be respectful of their comments. Comments are closed.
